Project Date:
Client: Water Corporation
Project Type:
Location: South West Region, WA

Project Description:

D&A was appointed as the principal consultant to deliver the South West Region Bridge Crack Monitoring and Structural Inspection Program in partnership with Water Corporation. This ongoing major infrastructure assessment project involves the periodic inspection of more than 150 bridges across Western Australia’s South West Region to monitor beam cracks, spalling, and signs of structural deterioration.

The inspections are conducted in accordance with Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) and Water Corporation’s Asset Condition Assessment (ACA) standards, ensuring full compliance with state infrastructure and asset management requirements.

Project Scope:

D&A’s scope includes detailed Level 1 structural inspections, crack measurement and documentation, photographic reporting, and risk categorization to prioritise maintenance and remedial actions. To access elevated and hard-to-reach bridge elements safely, D&A coordinated all traffic management, scaffold supply and erection, and the use of an Under Bridge Inspection Unit (UBIU), supported by qualified subcontractors and local council approvals. All inspection activities were delivered under stringent occupational health and safety procedures, including Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and Clearance to Work permits.

Outcome:

Led by Chartered Structural Engineers, D&A’s team continues to provide Water Corporation with reliable, data-driven insights that enhance asset performance, extend infrastructure life, and ensure public safety across Western Australia’s bridge network.
